Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card)

Where Can I Get My White Card?

Where Can I Get My White Card?

White Cards are required for work in much of the construction industry. If you are planning to work as a plasterer, electrician, plumber, or civic construction worker, then you will need a White Card. Potential employers will be looking for your White Card certification when they take your application. They want to know that you understand workplace safety and that you meet the legal requirements for working in construction and building before they give you the job.

How You Can Obtain the Card?

So, where can you obtain a White Card from? Well, you are going to have to complete a White Card course in order to get this card. The card basically tells a future employer that you have sat through the training for workplace safety and that you have completed the assessment tasks that goes with it. This is not a particularly challenging or difficult course to complete, but it is a requirement for work within the construction industry in every state in Australia. The card is nationally recognised, which means that it can open a lot of doors of opportunity for you.

Should You Take the Course Online or in Person?

In many states, you will need to obtain the card by going to a scheduled White Card course. The course has to be taken in person in states like Victoria and New South Wales, but it can be taken online in states like Western Australia and some remote areas of Queensland.

Attending a physical classroom session is very easy and convenient with classes running every week in all regional areas of Victoria as well as White Card Melbourne classes running every day.

What the Course Covers

Are you interested in knowing what the White Card course is all about? This course can go by different names, such as the Victorian CI course, if you take it in Victoria. It was previously known as the Victorian Red Card Course in that state.

The course has always offered the same basic information, though. It gives you detailed training about workplace safety, teaching you how to identify hazards in your workplace and deal with them effectively. It teaches you how to prevent hazards from occurring in the first place and then how you can handle workplace OHS incidents. Those who have not taken the course may not know what to do in the event of a workplace accident, or they might not recognize certain hazards, but those who have taken the course will have invaluable training that makes them more useful to their employers.

Now that you know how to obtain a White Card, you can get started with this course and get the accreditation you need to work in the construction industry.
