What is a White Card?
A White Card, formerly known as the Red Card in Victoria, is official proof that you have completed mandatory construction induction training. This certification is a legal requirement for anyone working on a construction site in Australia, ensuring all workers understand essential health and safety practices.
Can I complete White Card training online?
As of January 1, 2023, online White Card training has been discontinued in Victoria. All White Card courses must now be completed face-to-face in a classroom setting. Please be cautious of websites offering online White Card courses, as they may not be accredited by WorkSafe Victoria.
What should I bring to the class?
Please bring your original photo identification and a pen to your scheduled class. We provide all necessary course materials for use during the training.
Do I need to bring my own PPE?
No, you do not need to bring your own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). We supply all required safety gear, including hard hats, safety goggles, earmuffs, and high-visibility vests, for use during the assessment. However, you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
How long does it take to receive my White Card?
Upon successful completion of the training, we will issue you a Statement of Attainment (SoA) on the same day. This document serves as an interim White Card for up to 60 days. Your physical White Card, issued by WorkSafe Victoria.
Can I start working after receiving my certificate?
Yes, you can begin working immediately after receiving your Statement of Attainment. This interim certificate allows you to work while you wait for your physical White Card to arrive.
How long is my White Card valid?
The White Card does not have an expiry date. However, if you have not worked in the construction industry for two consecutive years or more, it is recommended that you retake the training to stay updated on safety practices.
Is my White Card valid in other states?
Yes, the White Card is nationally recognized across Australia. You can use it to work in the construction industry in any state or territory.
